How do I connect my AI tool to CentralSource?
Use the REST API or the MCP server at api.centralsource.com.au with a key the business creates for your tool. Every response contains only approved, current information that the key is allowed to see, with version numbers and effective dates.
Choose how your tool reads it
| Your tool | Best way in |
|---|---|
| Voice receptionist or chatbot that keeps knowledge in its prompt | GET /v1/export/prompt: everything in one text block. Cache on the ETag; send If-None-Match and you get 304 until something changes |
| Agent that can call tools (ChatGPT, Claude, ElevenAgents, Vapi, n8n, Dify, …) | The MCP server at /mcp |
| Voice flow that needs one exact answer fast | GET /v1/lookup?field=postcodes&value=3078 |
| Chat or search over a large business | GET /v1/search?q=…: returns found:false rather than a weak match |
| Tool that can't connect to anything | The business downloads its approved answers as one file and loads it in |
REST API
curl https://api.centralsource.com.au/v1/export/prompt \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $CS_KEY"Other read endpoints: /v1/profile (identity, locations, service areas), /v1/records and /v1/records/{id}, /v1/search, /v1/lookup. The full description is in the OpenAPI document.
MCP server
Endpoint https://api.centralsource.com.au/mcp, authenticated with the same key. Tools:
get_all_knowledge: the whole approved set for the key's audiencesearch_knowledge: keyword and meaning searchlookup_fact: exact field lookuplist_recordsandget_recordget_business_profile
What every response guarantees
- Only approved information that is in force now (future-dated changes appear on their date)
- Only what the key's audience level allows: public, customers or staff
- A version number and effective date on each fact, and a revision for caching
- When nothing approved answers the question, it says so, and the question is listed for the business to answer
Public business pages
Each verified business also has a public page at centralsource.com.au/b/<business>/ with schema.org LocalBusiness data, and its public facts as JSON at …/facts.json.
